Dec 4 Exploring Robins Branch - Birkhead Wilderness

I made 2 trips to this area, Dec 4 and 15. Recent rains put some water in the creek which was flowing nicely for both trips. The first outing focused on the east side and up some of the tributaries.

Here is a tributary I stopped for lunch at. There were some rock outcrops overlooking the creek for a great lunch setting. The one below was sporting a colony of Rockcap fern.

My second trip was along the creek from Hannahs Creek to Thornburg. Although, much of this route does not have trail access, I saw some well used campsites. It surprised me how much this area was used.

About anywhere along the creek, you can easily find a place to cross it.

There was a significantly large area which might have been impounded at one time. The topography was a flat valley with steep rises on both sides.
