Feb 17 Gap Hike

Someday I hope this hike will be a trail that anyone can enjoy, a connected trail from the Birkhead Wilderness to the Uwharrie Trail. Our route would cross four privately owned properties. We received permission from each to make this exploratory hike. Our desire to maintain good rapport with our forest neighbors is paramount in this process.

Our objective was to see how this connection might be made, what routes might work and what obstacles we'd face. Some properties are actively maintained for hunting. Others are in conservation programs. So, this is going to be a challenge in any direction. A big Challenge

Please respect private property. Our success depends on forging and maintaining good relations with our forest neighbors.

We were really fortunate to find this creek has already been bridged.
